The economy is sliding into recession and seems to be getting worse every day. Oil and gasoline prices have skyrocketed. The dollar is free falling. Inflation and deflation are common economic questions and there just does not seem to be any relief in sight to the challenges ahead.
Is all of this mere coincidence or is this all a part of the cosmic plan? This is the question I have been asking over the last year. Why is it that people from every walk of life and many different disciplines and viewpoints are all predicting catastrophe sometime within the period of 2010 to 2012? Is the Mayan calendar, or our interpretation of it correct?
Even our life giving sun seems to be turning against us. Several websites are echoing a Nasa warning that there may be an increase in solar activity with a solar maximum in 2011, 2012 or 2013. These solar flares have the potential for being the most disruptive since the 1850s.
In a new warning, Nasa said the super storm would hit like “a bolt of lightning” and could cause catastrophic consequences for the world’s health, emergency services and national security unless precautions are taken.
Scientists believe it could damage everything from emergency services’ systems, hospital equipment, banking systems and air traffic control devices, through to “everyday” items such as home computers, iPods and Sat Navs.
Due to humans’ heavy reliance on electronic devices, which are sensitive to magnetic energy, the storm could leave a multi-billion pound damage bill and “potentially devastating” problems for governments.
“We know it is coming but we don’t know how bad it is going to be,” Dr Richard Fisher, the director of Nasa's Heliophysics division, said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7819201/Nasa-warns-solar-flares-from-huge-space-storm-will-cause-devastation.html
The NOAA has a space weather website (http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/alerts/index.html) which is a valuable resource for understanding and researching solar actvity.
In addition, energy is a major challenge. Petroleum Review Magazine, February 2004, noted:
“Global oil supplies may have difficulty meeting growing demand after 2007.”
Clearly, we have reached the era predicted by M. King Hubbert, commonly called 'peak oil'.
According to Kenneth S. Deffeyes, Princeton University Professor and author of Beyond Oil, The View from Hubbert’s Peak:
“The supply of oil is the ground is not infinite. Someday, annual world crude oil production has to reach a peak and start to decline.”
As I am sure you know, this oil production peak is called peak oil by geologists. Forecast in the 1950s and verified in 1970, geologist M. King Hubbert shook up the oil industry by his uncanny and absolutely correct prediction of the oil production peak in the United States. He then used the same methodology on the world oil supply.
With the many choices available to us, sun, wind, biomass, clean coal, oil, nuclear, to name a few, where is the weekly discusson which will lead to an informed long term energy policy? It seems that our legislators won't even talk civilly to each other, let alone encourage meaningful debate among their constituents. Are we all just sheeple as many of our leaders think?
Look at the 2010 BP oil spill tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico for example. It seems the entire media process was orchastrated by BP and a variety of U.S. governmental agencies. The 'free press' seemed only to be mouthpieces. One website which provided excellent information, in my opinion, was theoildrum.com. There were several experts posting to the site and many very knowledgable people discussing the challenges during that crisis.
So, are we on the way to a world collapse or will our ingenuity and technology provide us with a new Eden? My ebook, 2012 - World Collapse or New Eden, gives you a list of predictons made by world famous scientists, engineers, businessmen and visionaries. This thought provoking ebook is a great resource for exploring a world that is almost here. Get a head start on your future and visit my website to order your downloadable copy today.
